Guardian Welfare Foundation Initiative

The Guardian Welfare Foundation Initiative is a non-profit Initiative with Christian and Jewish values that focuses on fighting poverty and devastation in Africa. We work with local partner organizations and central free agency in Uganda and Kenya to reach the local initiatives in African countries to implement programs in thematic areas such as: Food Security, Education, Vocational Training, Land Rights, Networking, Self-sufficiency, Entrepreneurship and Human Rights. Our goal is to break the cycle of poverty and inequality by providing long-term solutions and strengthening local communities.

Why did we start the Guardian Welfare Foundation Initiative?

We started the Guardian Welfare Foundation Initiative because we couldn’t stand by and watch the need for humanitarian action increase year after year without seeing a real change. We wanted to create an organization that focuses on giving people the tools and resources to become self-sufficient, thus reducing the need for charities in the long run.

We envisioned a model that moved beyond temporary relief, fostering sustainable development and empowering communities to break cycles of dependency. To achieve this, we prioritized building local capacity, ensuring that our interventions were not merely handouts, but investments in long-term prosperity. We committed to transparent and accountable practices, ensuring that resources were used efficiently and effectively, reaching those most in need. Furthermore, we sought to build strong partnerships with local organizations, governments, and other stakeholders, recognizing that collaborative efforts are essential for creating lasting change. By focusing on education, vocational training, and entrepreneurship, we aimed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to build their own futures, ultimately contributing to a world where humanitarian aid becomes less of a necessity and more of a distant memory.

Vision and values.

Our vision is a world where all people can live in security, with good self-sufficiency and welfare. We believe that long-term, sustainable solutions are key to fighting poverty and that local communities themselves have the power to create a better future. Our Christian and Jewish values, with a focus on compassion, love and solidarity, form the basis of everything we do.

Building upon our vision of a world where security, self-sufficiency, and welfare are universal, we recognize that achieving this requires a multifaceted approach. We are committed to fostering environments where individuals and communities are empowered to cultivate their own resilience and prosperity. This means not only addressing immediate needs but also investing in long-term, sustainable infrastructure, education, and economic opportunities.

We firmly believe that true and lasting change emerges from the ground up, driven by the inherent strength and wisdom of local communities. Our role is to act as facilitators, providing resources, support, and collaborative partnerships that amplify their capacity to shape their own destinies. We prioritize initiatives that promote self-reliance, ensuring that communities are equipped to withstand future challenges and thrive independently.

Our unwavering dedication to compassion, love, and solidarity, rooted in our Christian and Jewish values, guides our actions at every level. We strive to create a world where dignity is upheld, where the marginalized are empowered, and where the bonds of human connection transcend borders and differences. This commitment translates into ethical, transparent, and accountable practices, ensuring that our efforts are aligned with the principles of justice and equity. We are determined to continue working alongside communities, partners, and stakeholders to build a more just, sustainable, and compassionate world for all.

Focus areas for creating real change

Our work focuses on the following main areas

Food supply

Ensuring access to sufficient and nutritious food is the foundation of everything else. We work to strengthen local food systems and promote sustainability.

Education

To give children and young people access to quality education, from early childhood development to higher education and vocational training.

Vocational training

To provide people with vocational skills to get decent jobs and support themselves and their families.

Land rights

Securing land ownership is essential for long-term stability and development. We support initiatives that give marginalised groups, especially women, access to and control over land.

Networking

Creating strong networks of support and collaboration is essential for strengthening communities. We facilitate connections between local actors, organisations and experts.

Self-sufficiency

Providing people with the tools and resources to become self-sufficient is key to breaking the cycle of poverty. We offer education, vocational training and microfinance.

Entrepreneurship

Promoting entrepreneurship creates new opportunities and drives economic growth. We support local entrepreneurs and help create a favourable climate for business.

Human rights

Promoting and protecting human rights is fundamental to justice and dignity. We work to combat discrimination, violence and human rights violations.

Climate Resilience

To address growing climate vulnerabilities, our Climate Resilience focus will promote sustainable agriculture, robust infrastructure, adaptation education, and clean water access, building adaptable communities.

Collaborations and partnerships

We work with local partner organizations and central free agency in Uganda and Kenya to reach the local initiatives in African countries to implement programs. These collaborations ensure that our work is rooted in local communities and that the cultural context is taken into account.

We are a non-profit Initiative that relies on donations from individuals, foundations, and other organizations to fund our work. Donations are essential for us to continue fighting poverty and realising our vision of a better future.
