Guardian Welfare Foundation

The Guardian Welfare Foundation is a non-profit organization with Christian and Jewish values that focuses on fighting poverty and devastation in Africa. We work with local partner organizations in Uganda and its neighboring countries to implement programs in thematic areas such as: Food Security, Education, Vocational Training, Land Rights, Networking, Self-sufficiency, Entrepreneurship and Human Rights. Our goal is to break the cycle of poverty and inequality by providing long-term solutions and strengthening local communities.

The Start

Why did we start the Guardian Welfare Foundation?

We started the Guardian Welfare Foundation because we couldn't stand by and watch the need for humanitarian action increase year after year without seeing a real change. We wanted to create an organization that focuses on giving people the tools and resources to become self-sufficient, thus reducing the need for charities in

the long run.

Vision and values

Our vision is a world where all people can live in security, with good self-sufficiency and welfare. We believe that long-term, sustainable solutions are key to fighting poverty and that local communities themselves have the power to create a better future. Our Christian and Jewish values, with a focus on compassion, love and solidarity, form the basis of everything we do.

Focus areas for creating real change

Our work focuses on the following main areas

Food supply

Ensuring access to sufficient and nutritious food is the foundation of everything else. We work to strengthen local food systems and promote sustainability.

Education

To give children and young people access to quality education, from early childhood development

to higher education and vocational training.

Vocational training

To provide people with vocational skills to get decent jobs and support

themselves and their families.

Land rights

Securing land ownership is essential for long-term stability and development. We support initiatives that give marginalised groups, especially women, access to and control over land.

Networking

Creating strong networks of support and collaboration is essential for strengthening communities. We facilitate connections between local actors, organisations and

experts.

Self-sufficiency

Providing people with the tools and resources to become self-sufficient is key to breaking the cycle of poverty. We offer education, vocational training and microfinance.

Entrepreneurship

Promoting entrepreneurship creates new opportunities and drives economic growth. We support local entrepreneurs and help create a favourable climate for business.

Human rights

Promoting and protecting human rights is fundamental to justice and dignity. We work to combat discrimination, violence and human rights violations.

Collaborations and partnerships

We work with local partner organizations in Uganda and its neighboring countries to implement our programs. These collaborations ensure that our work is rooted in

local communities and that the cultural context is taken into account.

Funding and donations

We are a non-profit organization that relies on donations from individuals, foundations, and other organizations to fund our work. Donations
